The Cottages

Thank you for choosing Sea Island for your vacation! So that you can make the most of your cottage stay, below are a few reminders and considerations for your planning and convenience:

  • Check-in after 4:00 PM and check-out before 10:00 AM to avoid additional rental fees. (Any change in these times must be approved in advance by the Cottage Rentals office. Approval is given or withheld based on ability to reschedule housekeeping operations.) Remember to give your name as a rental guest to Security at the entry to Sea Island and you will be directed to the Cottage Rental Front Desk in The Cloister Center for check in. We apologize, but during peak rental times, there may be a slight delay in preparing your cottage. The Cottage Rental Front Desk will give you your Membership Cards, and you are welcome to use the resort facilities until your cottage is ready. Upon departure dispose of all food items, turn off all lights and small appliances, secure windows and entries, and leave all keys at the Cottage Rental Front Desk or Bell Stand.
  • Functions: To protect the cottage owner’s property and to maintain the quiet, residential nature of Sea Island, functions are limited in rental cottages. This is a result of past property damage and noise from unsupervised parties. So that rental guests may continue to entertain in the home in small numbers, we have defined a function as a gathering having invitees totaling in excess of two times the maximum occupancy of the cottage—so a small dinner party is fine. However, if you have plans to entertain a larger group, a few cottage owners have agreed to allow functions for an additional fee and on the condition that the function is organized and supervised by Sea Island Company. Please call our Catering Services department to discuss options and plan your function.
  • Special needs or a special occasion? Call our Cottage Rentals office and let us assist!
  • Resort Membership: Your Sea Island Club membership cards, necessary for access to all resort facilities*, will be issued in each individual's name for all occupants in your cottage. If separate billing accounts are needed, please notify our Cottage Rentals office in advance of your arrival to avoid a delay in processing the cards.
  • Advance reservations: To assure your place for dining and resort activities, please call our Central Reservations as soon as you have made your plans and, definitely, prior to your arrival.
  • Maximum Occupancy: Please be aware that there is a legal maximum occupancy allowed in your cottage (usually two guests per bedroom or sleeping room unless otherwise prescribed by the cottage owner).
  • Rental Equipment: If a crib, highchair, or other specialty equipment is needed, please notify our Cottage Rentals office in advance of your arrival so that we can obtain these from a local supplier. Your account will be charged for the rental. You will need to supply your own linens for cribs or other specialty beds. Rental equipment will be delivered and left in the garage for your arrival.
  • Essentials: Please be sure to include paper products when shopping for your vacation. Linens, towels, and "start up" supplies are included in the Cottage to assist in your arrival. Paper products, personal amenities, and groceries for the duration of your stay are not included in the rental. Overflow garbage bags approved by Glynn County sanitation service may be purchased at Harris Teeter.
  • Maintenance: Landscape and pool maintenance are performed on a regular schedule as determined by the cottage owner. However, a sudden storm may necessitate additional service. Please call our Cottage Rental office if additional pool cleaning is needed. Also, some cottages have heated pools. Notify the Cottage Rentals office in advance if you desire to heat the pool for an additional fee. It will take approximately 48 hours to bring the pool to a heated temperature.
  • Telephone: We recommend that you use your cellular phone or credit card for long-distance calling. Any long-distance calls billed to the cottage phone will be billed to the guest after departure with the appropriate surcharge.
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Please know that your cottage is thoroughly prepared and inspected prior to your arrival. However, if the cottage does not meet your expectations or a mechanical malfunction occurs, please notify Cottage Housekeeping or Cottage Rentals immediately so that we can have it corrected. Daily, light housekeeping services may be arranged for an additional charge.
  • Sanitation: Garbage collection occurs Wednesday on the West side up to 36th Street and River Club; Friday on the East side and above 36th Street; on Monday at Lake Cottages.  (Holidays may cause the schedule to be adjusted). Please place all garbage in the green, outside refuse can provided. Please note that the service provider will not service any can filled over capacity or with the lid ajar.  Overflow garbage bags approved by Glynn County sanitation service may be purchased at Harris Teeter.
  • Dining: The Sea Island Resort offers several dining options including the Beach Club, The Lodge, and the Davis Love Grill. In addition, we recommend quality dining in many local eateries. Advance reservations are required in some dining facilities.
